Academy of Music.

There wag a fair house at the above place of amusement las'; evening, on the occasion of the second appearance of the Madame Cora and Val Vose troupe. Madame Cora well sustained her reputation as a clever magicienne, and astonished the audience by > the way the, various conjuring feats were executed. Not the least meritorious portion of the entertainment was the clever performance of (he

trained dog Beauty. The first portion of the performance concluded with a " second sight" seance by Madame Cora and Miss Maude Clifton. The latter was blindfolded while the former selected various articles from the audience and on Mist Clifton being asked to name them she did it successfully, even telling the value and date of a coin. The, second portion comprised the amusing performance of Mr Val Vose the ventriloquist. His little puppets were well made and the illusions were carried out in first rate style. The queer sayings of Zlchariah the Quaker, Mr Trotter, and the other figures kept the audience in a chronic state of laughter. Then followed the wonderful aerial suspension, in which Miss Clifton was dressed to represent Britannia, Erin, Scotia, Mercury, and other allegorical figures. These, shown with beautiful lime lirht effect, must be seen to be appreciated, and we can fully recommend our readers to patronise this show; indeed, the aerial suspension.itself is well worth the money. to see., The distribVioa of prizes was ; carried .out satisfactorily, Mr James Lymburn being the wi iner of the silver plated tea and coffee service.
