Christmas Examinations.
ST. JOSEPH'S CATHOLIC SCHOOL.
The annual distribution of prizes to children attending the above school was held at the school-room, "Willbu^hby street, yesterday morning. There was a fair attendance of parents and friends of the children. The Rer. Father O'Keilly presided, and we were pleased to notice amongst those present the Bey. Mother of the Auckland Convent. The infant Bee* tion was first examined, and proved themselves efficient in their studies. Frizes were then awarded to them according to their merits. . The senior; section of the school were then examined on various subjects, the examination being inter* spersed with songs, recitations, dialogues, etc, after which the prizes were distributed by Father OBeilly as follows: —Mary Mullins Ist prize, catechism; Katie Tooher 2nd, catechism; Ann £va O'Connell, good conduct; Elizabeth Ghfeson, book reading; Kebecca Claxton, writing; Emily Hanlen, reading; Mary Ann Meeham, general; improvement; Ellen Mullins, geography; Kate Sullivan, mental arithmetic; Ludo Trenford, regular attendance; Julia Beilly; Cecilia O'Halloran, general improvement; Mary Graham, history; Alice Conroy, willingness to oblige. Third and Fourth Classes: Jeremiah Atkinson lbt prize, grammar; Jane Geraty, general improvement; Eliza Spinks, obedience; Alfred Atkinson, recitation ; Maud Hanlen, history; Julia Gleeson, general improvement; Mary Gillies, writing; M. K. O'Halloran, regular attendance; Agnes Brown, reading; Mary O'Connell, spelling; Ellen Maroney, general improvement; M. A. Eearden, Bose Mcllhone, geography.
