There are 85 cases set down for hearing at the R.M. Court this morning. ' • Tuesfl ay. The Morn'ng Herald points out a
blunder in the Administration Act, 1878. The omission of tho word illegitimate before the word female, in the 36th clause of the Act, has the effect of transferring the property of any female who' dies intestate and without issue to her mother, anr) to the heirs of her mother.
Further police changes are, spoken of. It is said that Superintendent "Weldon is to take charge of the Canterbury district, and Superintendent Brohara will be transferred to Dunedin.
At a'meeting of the City Council today a letter was read from the Comnaisf'oners of Police, promising that obstruction to foot traffic, caused by betting men congregating outside the Empire Hotel, should receive attention. The Council have also abandoned a/.l idea of fitting up the hulk, as a floating bathing establishment for Dune.din.
A match for £SCO a-side is to take place at Canterbury, at the autumn meeting, between H. Prince's Eversley and A. Devery's Agent. Distance, two miles, over hurdles, and weight ten stone. ' ;
