AUCKLAND.
This day
An official of the Native Department having obtained a block of ten thousand acres of Native land north of Auckland, the Government have ordered the Crown Grant to be put aside pending an inquiry.
Alderman McArthur has returned to Auckland after visiting the Eotorua lakes.
Beports from the Thames river show that the attempts to acclimatise the Californian salmon there have proved successful.
Mr Moss addressed his constituents end spoke in favor of a decentralised form of Government, modelled in some way npon Provincialism. He also favored separation of the two Islands, with a Federal Government at Wellington. He deprecated the absorption of power by the counties to the disadvantage of highway boards. He said it was well-known the Governor would not have granted this Government a dissolution. A vote of confidence was passed unanimously.
