Saturday. John Dayman, a volunteer in the Naval Brigade, was shot through the knee this morning when marking at the butts. It is feared amputation will be necessary.

This day. A fire occurred yesterday which completely destroyed Bnrrell's fruiterer shop in Bridge street. The building was insured for £2CO, and <he contents £125 in the Standard. Adjoining was Edwards and Co.'s bonded store containing goods insured in various offices for £4CO. The walls' and part of the roof were burnt, but the rest of the building was saved by the exertions of the brigade. The stook was not very much injured.
