: Wellington, This day., SHEEP BILL CONTINUED. ! The House last night continued in committee on the Sheep Bill, in which verbal alterations were made reducing ', fines and penalties and extending the pericd .from which these may be inflicted | to one year after the passing of the Aot, and enabling sheep-to be driven through iafeoted'FUns* provided that to the satisfaction of the inspector sufficient provision has been made to prevent infection. The bill passed through committee all but the schedules, when progress,was reported. : ATTACK ON NATIVE POLICY. On the question that the House go into Committee of Supply on the Estimates, Mr Sutton attacked the JNalive Minister and his policy in a strong speech, quoting amusing extracts from newspaper reports included in an official Parliamentary paper relating to the meetings between the Premier, Tawhiao and Eewi. Mr Sutton contended that no improve* ment had been effected in the relations between the two races, and that the Government was withholding land from settlement. The Native Minister, in reply, made a strong personal attack on Mr Sutton in relation to native land transactions in Hawke's Bay. In conclusion, Mr Sheehan promised to bring down the Native Lands Bill for second reading this , even* ing, and to take a discussion on'the whole Native policy of the Government. Mr. Fox said he would accept that opportunity of criticising the Native policy. IN COMMITTEE. The House then went into Committee of Supply when the items Public Domains and Buildings, Crown Lands, Survey and Goldfields were passed without reduction, and the House adjourned at twenty minutes past three. ..
