Tuesday. Dempsey has been committed for trial on a charge of manslaughter, though the Magistrate admitted the case was a very weak one.
A large number of iheep and cattle have been drowned in the late floods, and the total quantity of land washed away from the Kaiapoi Islands was 250 acres. Many farmers are heavy losers. .
