O'CONNELL SUBSCRIPTION.
(To the Editor of the E.rening Star.)
Sib,—l herewith hand you the lists of the O'Connell subscription initiated and carried out from lists distributed by me. There is very good reason to account for their not being published sooner, as only yesterday I received £2 18s 6d, besides being told by some who had put their names on the list that they were still unable to pay but would do so as soon as possible. The amount collected at the Thames and paid Mrs O'Connell was £69, less £2 advertising lists, the only expense incurred in collection, while Messrs Stone Bros', list, Auckland, will be about £20, and Mr Maclntyre's list, Onehunga, will be about £3, making in all £92 without the list from the Bay of Islands, which has not come to hand.—Yours &c.
' William Souteb. , Thames,. Oct. 15th, 1878., '[The lists will appear to-morrow.— Ed.] \ . ; • .
