Thames Goldflelds Hospital.

The usual monthly meeting of the committee of this institution was held at the Salutation Hotel yesterday afternoon. Present:—Mr J. Prater, President; Mr McCullough, Vice> President; the Keys. P. O'Keilly, E. S. Bunn, J. T. Hintonj Messrs Ehrenfried, A. Aitken, H. MeIlhone, J. McGowan, M. Mulligan, Wilson, and Renshaw. minutes. • The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. APOLO&IES. The absence of the Revs. V. Lush, S. J.Neill, Messrs Gudgeon, Davies, Ahier, and Hudson was apologised for. HOUSE COMMITTEE'S BEPOBT. The report of the House Committee was read and adopted:—" The House Committee beg to report that the hospital has been regularly visited during the past month and found satisfactory. The accounts for the month are salaries £56 2s, and general accounts £39 16s lid, which we have examined and recommend for payment.—Josiah T. Hinton, Chairman.'* '■■■.'' The report was as follows;—" Receipts: To balance, £356 2s 4d; subscription account, £21 19s; donation account, £3 17s 2d; patients' charges account, £1113s; total, £393 11s 6d. Expenditure: By salaries account, £52 10s 6d; maintenance account, £38 2s Id; medical comforts account, £8; drugs and appliances account, £3 2s 6d; printing and stationery account, £1 6s 6d; commission account, 17s 6d; funerals account £2; miscellaneous expenses account, 12s 6d; balance Bank of New Zealand, £233 0a lid; total, £393 lls 6d. Liabilities and assets: To salaries, £56 2s; general account, £39 15s lid; balance, £187 3s; total, £283 Os lid. By bank balance, £283 Os lid; total, £283 Os lid.

The Secretary stated that he had applied to the Government for the usual quarterly grant, but no answer was yet received. The President said that they had not received any notice frcm the Borough of their willingness to pay the subsidy. It, remained to be seen if the Government intended to continue the grant. ' HOUSE SUBQBON's BEPOBT. The report of the House Surgeon was read. / ; Mr Wilson moved the adoption of the report, which was then adopted. DONATION. A letter was received from the Treasurer of the Indian Famine Belief Fund enclosing the sum of £3 lls- 2d, half the unexpended balance of the fund, which ;it had been decided to give to the Hospital. Beceived. ACCIDENT. Mr Behshaw said that as he was coming io the meeting he had been met by Mr Bullen and Mr Brodie, w!k> informed him that information had been received from Whangamata of a serious accident which had befallen a. man named McDonald. Dr. Payne could not be found, and it had been suggested that Mr Aitken, the Hospital dispenser, might go to Whangamata. As the case was an urgent one he would move, " That in the event of no other doctor being obtained, Mr Aitken be sent with the concurrence of the House Surgeon." Carried.

HOSPITAL DEMONSTRATION. Mr Benshaw moved, " That the President be requested to write to the secretaries of the various Friendly Societies asking them to make arrangements for the annual Hospital demonstration. Mr McCullough seconded. Carried. DR SCHWARZBACH.

The President said that there was a young lad in the Hosp'tal who was totally blind, and as Dr Schwarzbach would be on the Thanes shortly, it had ■been suggested that he be requested to visit the Hospital. A motion to the effect that Dr Schwarzbach be requested to visit the Hospital was carried.' HOUSE COMMITTEE. The following gentlemen were appointed a House Committee for the ensuing month : The Beys. V. Lush and J. T. Hinton, Messrs Ahjer and Wilson. This was all the business.
