The whole Associated Newcastle Coal Masters give notice of their intention to withdraw at the end of the year from the present agreement relating to the price of coal. ■ It is generally believed a reduction in the price will follow.
The Queensland trans-continental exploring party will shortly reach Port Darwin. They find the country well fitted for a railway. The prospectors up the Mclvor report the country auriferous, but the gold, however, is unpayable. It is suitable for stock and sugar growing.
