It was'afterwards found that powder and bullets had been stolen from the tent; and at the inquest to-day a bullet was found in the man's head, which leaves little doubt but that he has beea murdered. . Later. Wellington, This day. The Government have received a nunv ber of telegrams relative to the murder in the Momahaki block. From these it appears that suspicion points to a native named Hiroki at. Pahapu", Waitotara, and who is said to have fled in the direction of Taupo or Wailcato. All the information received points .to the , murder being a private one. A number of native chiefs now in Wellington tire very much shocked at the occurrence, and have sent telegrams to their people to apprehend the murderer. ' Most active measures have been also taken by the Government for the apprehension of the murderer. The Native Miaister is assured that the crime has no political significance whatever.
