This day
Mr Brodie (County Chairman) and Dr Kiltfour (Mayor) have arrived from Wellington, and will be down to-raorrow.
From the former I learn that a vote of £500 will probably be placed on the Estimates for starting a School of Mines at Thames.
Material will be obtained from Auckland, and the Government laboratory will be utilised—probably the School W:.ll be in connection with the Mechanics' Institute. •
