Theatre Royal.

The production of Lord Lytton's celebrated comedy "Money" drew a large house at this place of amusement last evening. The comedy itself is of a very high standard, pad admits of a most finished representation. Mr Chaplin enacted the part of Evelyn, and his representation was certainly most realistic. In the early par. of the season Mr. Chaplin's splendid representations of the great Shaksperian tragedies, led many to believe that his comedial representations would pale beside his Macbeth or Hamlet. Last night, however, this idea was scattered to the winds, and the doubters were forced to admit that Chaplin the comedian is in every way equal to Chaplin the tragedian. But all of Mr Chaplin's representations are entirely different, for instance the rage of the fate defying Macbeth is ; very different to the righteous anger of his Eichelieu. The part of Evelyn enables an actor to exhibit the full scope of his powers, and this Mr Chaplin did without any apparent effort. Mrs Walter Hill played the part of Clara Douglas in a manner which elicited the warm sympathies of the audience, and to Miss Lily May, who played the role of Miss Vesey, a word of praise is also due. Mr fcsteele as Graves confirmed us in our high opinion of his abilities as an actor. His frequent allusions to "his sainted Maria " kept the audience highly amused all the time he was on the stage. Mr O'Brien's Sir Frederick Blomet, a young fop, a Ja Lord Dundreary, was Very fair, and a very good copy of Sotheru's great character. Mr Musgrave as Sir John Vesey was really, first-class, and the same may be said of the representation by Miss Raymond of the flirting widow, Lady Franklin. The other characters werq also well represented, but call for no special mention. To-night Mr De Lias' talented company will appear for the last time, in " Othello,' 1 with Mr Chaplin in the title ro.e and Mr Stecle as lago.
