REPLY TO "OUTSIDER."
' (To the Editor of the Evening Star.)
Sib,—Would you kindly grant us a corner of your paper for a word in reply • to tlie letter of " Outsider " in your issue of last evening ? Mennie and Dey lay no claim to be considered more charitable men than their neighbors, as, like others, they have to live by their tradcj but this they may say, that during the time they have been in business on the Thames they never troubled any poor man who might have been temporarily under a cloud. Aa to whether Mennie is returned
to the Borough Council or not is a matter whicli lie is quite satisfied to leave to the decision of the burgesses of the Middle Ward. Apologising for troubling you, we remain, yours &c, Mennie and Dey. ■
