■ A tblegbam was received at the County Council officei to-day from the Premier regarding the matter of relief for the tin? employed of this ; place. , The telegram was in eflect that, with the concurrence of the authorities, the Government might remove the men to Canterbury^ where men, recently removed from Greymouth under similar circumstances, immediately found employment. This, how : ever, the Council; do not, approve, and to meet the urgency of the case they have decided to employ all county residents who are at present, out of -work on the County road, stonebreaking. A special meeting' of the Borough Council has been called for Monday morning to get Councillors to sanction employment of any residents of. the Borough who are numr bered amongst the unemployed.
