' ' • Wednesday. In the Legislative Council to-day the Hon. Mr Menzies moved for correspondence, <&c., in connection with the Otago High School Act. Agreed to. ' ',' The Juries' Act Amendment Bill was read a third time and passed. In reply to Sir D. Bell, the Colonial Secretary stated that most likely the despatches from the Governor had been overlooked in the hurry of His Excellency's departure. The Wellington City Reserves Bill was read a second time.
The Council then went into Committee, when the Eabbit Bill, the Dangerous Goods Bill, and the Civil Service Bill were considered.
The first two were reported, with amendments, and the. third readinj^fixed for Wednesday next. "'" ','«. 1 The Civil Service Bill was reported without amendment, aud read a third time and passed. The Committee then proceeded with
the unopposed clauses pf the Harbor Bill. The 95fch clause had been reached at tho adjournment at 5 p.m. The Council then adjourned to Wednesday, the 11th instant.
