The French Government have postponed the distribution of the exhibition prizes to October the 21st, in order to secure *the presence of members of Parliament and other eminent visitors. There is great discontent in consequence amongst exhibitors. A deputation requested the awards to be published immediately. The matter was referred to the Ministers of Commerce. •
_ The report of the Enodope Commissioners confirms the worst outrages committed by the Russian and Bulgarians. The British, French, Italian, and Turkish delegates have agreed on a report, but the .Russians and German representatives refuse their signatures. The Austrian representative was absent from illness.
The war ship Dakal has been ordered from the Cape to Australia. A disastrous fire broke out at Riga. - A disastrous flood in Tyrol caused immense destruction of property. A severe shock of earthquake occurred at Elbenfield, Cologne. There is a probability of a compromise re. the cession of Batoum, the people paying tribute to Russia, maintaining present institutions, and existing officials.
The Australians played eighteen of Hastings. The first innings of the latler showed ten out for 104. It is a strong team.
Government have accepted tmV tender of the P. and O. Company for the conveyance of the India and China mails for eight years,'froni February, 1880. : The Avistvalians have commenced play against Hastings. The first innings of Hastings closed for 131. .
. The Australians are three- out for 190. Bailey, not out, 100; Murdoch, not'out, one.
