Sergeant H. Skewe, No. 2 Scottish.
We are extremely sorry to hare to record the death of Sergeant H. T Skene, No. 2 Scottish, which took place at Shortland this morning, after a comparatively short illness. Deceased fas been indisposed for some time, bat' it was not 'thought probable that his illneßS would' terminate fatally. Mr H. Skene was .& brother of Captain J., Skene, formerly' Ist Waikatovßjegiment, and ,a native of Tasmania, the father„ having - been in the Imperial Commissariat Department. He came to New Zealandin 18#6, having up to that time for many yeara previously occupied a response* situation in the Victorian Civil ServlaiMSer." geant Skene was for several* year* a3 member of No. 3 Haurakis, and with the remnant of that company joined No. 2 Scottish. His comrades of all rankt will regret his death, and sympathise with nil sorrowing relatives, as he was a good volunteer and esteemed as a friend. He will be buried with military hoj&rs tomorrow.
