This Morning's Tornado.

Many of the residents of Grahamstown. and other sheltered parts of the Borough' from the terrific gale blowing this morning, perhaps, expected to find their houses collapse before the fury of the storm. With the exception of the demolition of a few fences, etc., however, but little damage was done in the southern end of the Borough. At Tararu, however, exposed as it is, the fierceness of the gale was severely felt, and many fences were destroyed. The most serious damage we have heard of being done by the gale was the destruction of an unoccupied house next Mr Godkin's house, Tararu. This building was blown to pieces, large portions of the roof and weatherboarding being whirled to the opposite side of the street. This was. not the only damage done, however. A stable at the rear of the hotel was al«o blown down, theroof and sides being carried some yards from its site, leaving two horses that were in the stable safe; and some idea of the fury of the gale may be come at by the fact that a large packing case full of horse feed was found some 20 or 30 yards from the stable. The hotel windows were blown in, and the building sustained a severe shaking while the upper portions of two brick chimneys were destroyed, some of the bricks being borne by the sportive elements on to two buildings several yards off. Mr Godkjn's cab was also severely injured by the falling of the timber. Don't let us talk about windy Wellington after this.
