Monday. A patient in the asylum named Healey escaped on Saturday morning through a skylight, and scrambled over a high precipice. He liad only his shirt on, which he threw off when leaving, alleging afterwards that he did not wish to be arrested for stealing the asylum'clothes. He ran to the sea-beach in a slate of nudity, and then followed the low water mark for some miles. He afterwards pioceeded into the bush at the upper crossing of the Arahura, where he was found at six o'clock the seme night. Ho had no food nor clothing, but expre :sed his intention of asking for both at the first house he came to. When found be was hidiig from the police behind a bush. • . The steamer Mullough has bcon bought by Cameron Brothers, of Lyttelton, for £1,35 Ji at auction. The-cam? firm bought the schooner Garibaldi for £450.
