General Summary.

The region south will form practically an independent autonomous province called Eastern Boumelia, paying tribute, and governed by a Hospodar appointed for five or ten years, the Powers having a veto over the Sultan's nomination.
The National celebration in Paris was an immense demonstration; forty thousa ,d troops were reviewed.
The Eosseau centenary was celebrated with great illuminatious by the Socialists at Genera. All prospect of an agreement, at one time thought possible, between the German Emperor and the Pope, has apparently disappeared. The Pan-Anglican Synod was opened at Lamboth on July 2nd. The Anglican Church in all parts of the world is represented by upwards of 100 Prelates of the United Kingdom, her Colonies and dependencies, and the United States. The Prince of Wales has accepted the presidency of the Colonial Institute, in place of the Duke of Manchester resigned. The success of the Australian Cricketers has induced a desire on the -part of colonists resident in England to mark the sense of their achievements by entertaining them at a banquet at Willis' Booms on July 23rd. A very influential ooinmittee has been formed, including several late Governors and a majority of the Agent-General a and other well-known colonists, to carry out the necessary arrangements. A match of great interest was played at Prince's ground on June 17th and 18th, between the Australians and Gentlemen of England. Between 11,000 and 12,000 spectators were present.
