In replying to the memorial of the Colonial Institute relative to British protection for New Guinea, Government say they intend to consult Governor Gordon on his arrival in connection with New Guinea, and in the meantime they have instructed the Commodore of the Australian station to despatch a war ship to Port Moresby to watch British interests.
