OUR MINES.
THE WEEK.
I he Caledonian has been getting a little gold, which has increased the value of shares in that company considerably. So far as the Auckland market is concerned the Caledonian shares are certainly the most buoyant going ; on the slightest rumor up they go—doubtfess owing to the golden connection which the n^ie Caledonian has with the colossal"----fortunes made in the great spurt. If anything good is got, the shares won't lag. The Piakoisalso looking up much better, . and shares are saleable. The directors, are determined to prospect the new reef, » and it is hoped it will be a success. They certainly deserve something. The Owharoa district is continuing to yield well, which proves there is.something in the old saying, " Second trials are always best."
