Crushing from the No. 1 Vanguard lode was commenced to-day at the Kuranui mill with 20 head, and at Viokery'i battery with 6 head of stampers. Next week the company's mill will be filled up and crushing started, and in the meantime it is intended to put on more hands in the mine to break out a large tonnage. Driving on the lode is now in progress, but there is no change perceptible, though the stuff will pay expenses. The continuation of the cro3B-cut to cut the No. 2 Vanguard lode is to be started at once.
