The Government surveyors are making a survey of. a branch line from the Lyttelton Christchurch Railway to Summer, the principal sea side resort of North Canterbury.
According to a report read at a meeting of the Charitable Aid Board the annual expenditure on the Christchurch Hospital is stated Jo-bo £BCOO. The" number of officers, including the visiting staff, is 36. the number of beds' 130. - Considerable difficulty is experienced in obtaining a resident surgeon, the salary offered being £200 per year.
