The Conference of municipal delegates met this afternoon. On the motion of Mr Standish, it was carried " That in the opinion of the Conference Government is not warranted in making any deductions since the Ist of July last for the maintenance of either hospitals or charitable institutions from the subsidies granted by Parliament by way of endowment to municipalities; and that Messrs Moorhouse, Sutton, and Brett interview the Government on the subject, with a view of ascertaining whether they are pre : pared to pay over such subsidies in full." Mr Charters moved, and it was carried, " That the expenses of the Conference be borne by all those boroughs which are represented thereat, in proportion to the population of such boroughs." The Conference has commenced to go through the Municipal Corporations Act, 1876, clause by clause. The members adjourned at 4.30, and in future they will sit at 10.30 a.m. until 1 o'clock daily. ■ t This day. The Christchurch Acclimatisation Society have been compelled to refuse applications from Auckland for trout ova, owing to an unexpected scarcity. It is calculated that the number this year will not exceed 1 ten thousand.

It is probable that the Hon. J. N. Wilson will be appointed a member of the Executive in the Legislative Council to assist Colonel Whitmore.
