Themes Naval Brigade.

This company, which has lately been recruited by a number of men to combine a naval artillery contingent with the ordinary brigade, end discarded the fifeß and drums for a brass band, turned out for their monthly church parade yesterday. It was the first pubue appear? nee of the brass band, and this, with the augmentation of the company's strength, gave an additional interest to the parade. The men assembled at the Hall at ten o'clock, when the usual inspection was made by Captain Wildirssn, the other officers also being present. At half-past ten punctually the brigade matched off for S. George's Church j headed by «tUe new band, whose playing surprised many competent judges. The march to rnu from Church attracted a large crowd of spectators, and it was frequently remarked that such a fine muster had teldom been seen, even in this district, whe.e volunteering has been so spiritedly carried out. The number present was considerably over 100, and as the Naval cade is accompanied them the turn out was "more noticeable. The parade stale showed that there were present the following detail: —4 officers, <5 petty officers, 1 bugler, 18 bandsmen and 86 seamen; lotrl, 115. Great credit is due to Mr S. Montgomery, bandmaster, <for the efficiency displayed by the band, which has been attained by three weeks' practice. As regards tho parr.de, it is said that there would have been another 40 men present ,but for the fact that their uniforms were not completed.
