BLACK ANGEL.
The crushing of 160 tons for this mine at the Moanatairi mill has yielded a most satisfactory return —]54ozs gold. There are about 10 ounces more to come from a final cleaning up, as there are yet some tailings not put through the berdans. In working this block the manager has had a great difficulty to contend with, viz., the broken ground, but the stuff bas now all
been taken out, and its produce leaves the company a good margin of profit with which to continue the development of the claim. The new level is sixty feet below the present one, and to assist in its working the manager is sinking a winze to connect the two levels. Formerly the out put of the mine was all wound by a small engine up to the Whau level, and then trucked out to the surface. Now, however, as the Sons of Freedom pass is completed, the manager by using it has increased facilities for getting stuff to the mill.
