Thames Water Supply Committee.
The adjourned ordinary meeting of this body was held at the Borough Council Chambers last evening. Present—Mr L. Ehrenfried (in the chair), Messrs Brodic, Price and McGowan. MINUTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were read over and confirmed. WATEB SUPPLY OF THE WHABVES. The Secretary reported the result of the calling for tenders for supplying of the water to the whurve3. Mr Butt's tender had been accepted for the Shortland Wharf, and Mr Souter's for the Burke street Wharf. * TENDERS FOB SUPPLIES. The Secretary reported that Mr McCaul's tender for supplies bad been accepted. Messrs Morrin's tender was a little cheaper, but had not arrived in time,: it having been accidentally detained at the County Council Chambers. JWATEB PIPES ON BUBKE BTBEBT WHABl 1.

It was resolved that the Secretary be" instructed to order a ram to cost £15 for the purpose of forcing water up the Waiotahi Creek. proposed loan. ';' After some little discussion Mr McGowan moved that the Chairman and Messrs Ehrenfried and Brodie be a committee to make arrangements to borrow money in event of the passing of the Bill, with power to act. This was seconded by Mr Price and carried. ' APPLICATIONS FOB BEDUCTIONS, ETC. Mr B. Stone asked to have his rate reduced to £1, as he was not using the water for manufacturing purposes at present. | Mr Brodie moved, and Mr Price seconded that Mr Stone be informed that the Committee have not power to reduce the rate. ■ ■-;/■■-,■■ : Mr McGowan said that they had the power to reduce the rate if they wished. The Chairman said he doubted if they had the power to reduce the rate. £3 per annum was the lowest that they could charge for a boiler. Mr Brodie then moved that Mr Stone be informed that the Committee are unable to comply with his request, and withdraw his former motion. This was carried. The secretary said that Mr G-. Bull of Bull's mill had paid £12 10s for water Jast year, and not got any water from the Committee's mains. He asked that an allowance be made him.
It was resolved that a similar answer rs that sent to Mr Stone be sent to Mr Bu!L - , ; Messrs Moorcraft and Fagg applied to have their water rates reduced. It was decided to reply to the applicants as in the former cases. ■ ■ PA.BAWAI BO AD. , -. ; . A letter was read from the County Council with reference to the damage done to the Parawai Koad through the Committee opening it to lay -the new mains. The matter was referred to the Works Committee with power to act. This was all the business.
