WELLINGTON.
Friday. The Colonial Museum will be opened for the first time on Sundays next Sunday. The hours are from two till four o'clock. Mr Burns (the Postmaster-General of Sydney) and the Hon. Mr Fisher have made proposals to Colonel Glover, involving fresh ie ffls with the company, as to the tariff of charges, per cable, for messages to and from Australia. Probably a reduction in the present charges will be the result. Colonel Glover has telegraphed to the board of directors of the Eastern Extension Company at London ior instructions. The Hons. Whitmor^, Fisher, and Burns, with Colonel Glover and Dr. Lemon/ leave for Ne'aon and Wakapuaka per Hinomoa to morrow, and will return on Monday. This day.
Mr Crawford, E.M., took his seat for the last time on the Bench this morning. The members of the Wellington Bar presented him with a complimentary address. The members of the local press also m*?de him a handsome present. Mrs^Crawford presented the Clerk of the Court with a handsomely chased silver goblet, and Inspector Acheson with a silver hooped flagon. Mr Mansford, the new E.M., takes his seat on Monday for the first time.
