QUALIFICATION OF FRIENDLY SOCIETY MEDICAL OFFICERS.

Sib,-—I notice ia this morning's Advertiser that Dp Gilbert was elected one of the surgeons for Court Pride of ParnelJ, Fuesters.. Are the members aware that by the Medical Practitioners Registration Act, 1869,-of New Zealand, no certificates signed by a person not registered under this Act are va'id ?—Such as for example certißcates for admission, or certificates of sickness and for sink relief. Clause 20 of the Act states, " And no certificate required by any Act now or hereafter to be in force signed by apy physician, surgeon, or other medical practitioner shall be valid unless the person signing the same shall be registered. Provided that ■ nothing in this Act contained shall render invalid any such certificate from a duly appointed medical officer of p;iy of Her Majesty's land or sea forces in full pay* although such officer may not be registered under this Act."
