THE GOLDEN ARROW BATTERY
(To the Editor of the Evening Star.)
Sib, —Seeing the late Golden Arrow battery is being removed, on behalf of myself and others interested in the prosperity of the Tairua goldfield, I would like to ask Mr A. Hume, through your paper, why .he is removing same after promising us the battery would retrain and be open to crush quartz at a moderate rate for miners and prospectors. Such removal*—when same would have paid, if properly worked —is a great loss to the. Tairua Goldfield. Joseph Read. Puriri, June 12,1878.'
