WATCHMAN.

The tributers retorted last night after their crushing of 43 tons at the Prince Alfred battery for the return of 37ozs gold. This is not as much as was expected from the way the stuff shaped at the commencement of the crushing, when it went 2ozs per ton, and is to be accounted for by the fact that the tributers followed the wrong vein, and. consequently sent down a quantity of worthless stuff. The mistake, however, has now teen obviated, and operations are being pursued on the golden run in the main reef, from which a parcel is now being broken, and when the hopper and she ot are completed, Mr George, who is acting as manager, informs me that he intends to resume the con* tinuous crushing, with 10 he~d, at the Prince Alfred bettery.
