DUNEDIN.
Friday.
An influential meeting was held here to«day re the construction of a railway from Gore to Elbon, a distance of 35 miles. It was represented by several speakers that it would open up a large area of agricultural land. A company having a capital of £150, CCO was formed to carry out the work. In consequence of land slips traffic is suspended on the Otago railways, except between Port Chalmers and Mosgiel. Sir John Coode's report is published, but is substantially the same as telegraphed. The Board think that a mistake has been made by the clerk who copied the report. If so the Crawfordstreet block would not be affected.
