The Australian Cricketers in England.

The following information regarding the abore, published in Saturday's Herald, will be found interesting to cricketers:— The following is the list of matches at present to hand which are to be played between the Australian and Kuglish teams. Two of these we hare already got notice of—Notts hating beaten Australia in one innings, and Australia beaten the M. 0. 0. by nine wickets. . The lict of matches, as given, is somewhat disap-

pointing, as the Colonials meet the Gentle* men only once, and that at Prince's, and most know how the feeling prevalent '■ there is, that all those who have their "blue 'and black" (the colours of the club) should play before all otbers, and the players once only also, and that at the Oval, and at the very end of the season. The Australians play Yorkshire twice, and besides them (by which match will the bets go) Sussex, Lancashire, Gloucestershire, and Surrey, ' only from the list of counties, leaving out Kent, Hampshire, Middlesex, and Derbyshire ; and not testing the strength of England, as strongly advised to do by " I'aul Jones," in the Australasian. In fact, it seems that, instead of playing legitimate cricket, they are going for the gate money. It is physically impossible for any set of young men to play persistently from May 20 to September 2, with, at the most, three day's difference between each match, especially considering that they are travelling a good part of the time, and that, with the exception of D. Gregory, all of the players are under 30 years of age.
