A special meeting of the Thames Borough Council was held at the Council Chambers last evening For the purpose of holding a conference with the County Conner.' re the maintenance: of the Hospital c id chpritable institutions. Present — The Mayor, Crs Benshaw, Bowe, Price, Wftson, Bead and McGowr.n. - APOIOGY. The absence of Cr JEhrenfried was apologised for. The following letter was read from the County Clerk. On the motion of Cr. B owe, seconded by Cr Bensbaw, the meeting was adjourned till JVednesday next, in accordance with Mr Hoilis'letter. •

The question of the Public Recreation Ground was then brought up by the Committee, and it was resolved on the motion of Cr Rowe, seconded by Cr Bead that Mr Spencer be offered £50 i.er acre for 25 acres at Parawai (Parawr.i Gardens) on this side the river. / - The Council then adjourned until such time as Mr Spencer replied to the offer of the Council.
