The sale of suburban sections at Gisborne this day belonging to the late Captain Eeid realised over ten thousand pounds, being an average of about fiftyfive pounds an acre. Fifty thousand pounds" have been expended in the district during the last two days in buying small holdings and town sections. The extraordinary price the land realised at the Patutahi sale yesterday is matter for general comment. The actual proceeds of the sale are thirty-six thousand eight hundred and fifty pounds. Eesidents in the district purchased largely.
