The Governor has received a despatch from the Secretary of State saying that England has no intention of proposing to Parliament the annexation of the New Hebrides. , The Governor prorogues Parliament on Tuesday. The s.s.JEatsby sailed to-day. Melbourne, Saturday. The Cable Conference has been concluded. The result includes Colonel Glover's proposal for a duplication of the Singapore to Port Darwin line, and also a second cable to Penang and Singapore. A subsidy of thirty-two thousand pounds annually is to be paid rateably by the colonies, according to the population. Press rates have been reduced one-fourt!i, and Government messages one-half.
New Zealand and Tasmania will get no advantage from the reduced cable rates. Nothing lias been done re the duplication of the land liae to Port Darwin. Tasmania and Queensland are dissatified with the arrangement.
