RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT

Esqs., J'a.P.) PETTY LAECENY.

Charles Cummings, a young man, was charged with stealing three bottles of oysters, the property of John Howard, of the value of 3a, on the 9th inst.

Defendant pleaded guilty. Mr JBullen said that defendant. had entered the shop in Mr Howard's absence and taken the bottles. Sentenced to 14 days' imprisonment with hard labor. LAEEIKINISM. A young lad, aged about fifteen, was charged with maliciously disturbing an inhabitant of a dwelling situate in Owen street, Grahamstown, by unlawfully knocking at the door of the said dwelling on the 7th inst. Defendant pleaded guilty. Mr Bullen said that the boy was returning home from a Bible class, and had rapped at the door of an acquaintance of his mother's. The lad bore a good character, and he would not press for a penalty. Discharged with a caution. Court adjourned.
