CHRISTCHURCH.
Monday. Malvern Hill coal is now being used on the railway with satisfactory results. There are 927 waggons on tne Canterbury lines, being an average of 2| waggons per mile. At the Magistrate's Court today, J. M. Fitzgerald, licensee of a suburban hotel, was fined £5 for spitting in the face of a Mrs Williamson outside the Court. Mrs Williamson had been a witness in a case against Fitzgerald for illegal liquor selling.
