Thames Naval Brigade.
SHELL PRACTICE.
Sercral crews mustered at the guns on Saturday for shell practice, under the command of Capt. Wildman and Lieuts. Gavin and Bennett. The guns were captained by Lieut. Bennett and Warrant Officer Cbas. Brown, nnd the drill con* ducted by Lieut. Garin. The shooting was certainly not up to the average, showing the necessity of more practice. We belie re that tbere will bo a competition shortly for a sum of money given by Captain Wildman for artillery shooting, the Government having not allowed any big gun prize this year. We certainly think (hat such encouragement is desirable, and very commendable, as the artillery drill is a branch we should like to see the N avals proficient in. CHCBCH PARADE. This corps assembled for church parade yesterday, and although the morning was very threatening there was an excellent muster of over 70 all told, under the | command of Lieuts. Thos. Gavin and Ben- ; nolt. This corrs was also accompanied by No. 2 H.H.V., under command of Captain Small, Lieuts Barlow and JDenby, and the Naval Cadets tinder Lieuts. Savage and Vcrnon, but owing to the weather these corps did not muster with their usual strength. "election of officer. Wo understand the Navals will elect a First-Lieutenant this,; evening, and then | this corps will be again fully officered.;
