The publication of the accounts of the Canterbury Cooperative Society, recently wound up, disclosed very bad management. Instead of being worked at a profit, as the 1 directors believed, there had been a loss throughout, and after allowing for losses there was a deficiency of £619, through the business being so short lived. The estate when wound up only paid 9s in the pound.
