This day.

A deputation of settlers from the Manawatu waited upon the Premier and Mr Ballanco to-day and urged the necessity of a railway line between the Hutt and Manawatu. The Government promised that the line would be surveyed without delay. / Sir John Coode is expected here on Saturday. Tuesday. At the Government land sale to-day about 33,000 acres were offered, and aboat 5000 sold. The land is situated in various parts of the provincial district, and comprises town, suburban, and rural sections. Two of the former realised from £4 to £100 per acre. The total pro* duct of the sale was £12,875.
