CALEDONIAN.
The tribute in this mine recently let to M» William Howe is the Young American section, which has several times, bees worked with unsatisfactory results by tributers, nothing of any consequence baring erer come from it. I understand,/ however, that Mr Bowe knows of twe leaders which were slightly worked at the time he was manager of the mine, and ;< one.of them which wit worked from * ''• small shaft in tbe road was worth 12 or 13dwts per ton, being a nice little lode about 18 inches thick. Of course in those days, when the mine was producing* quarts worth hundreds of ounces per too! people turned up their noses at a paltry lOdwt leader., Mr Howe's party started operations today with the intention of developing the leaders referred to, which I may add have not been worked by any* previous tribute party. Lowe and party finished their crushing at Yickery'a mill to-day for the retain of 7o«s retorted gold. They crushed four tons of stuff. ''■"■'
