OHINEMURI.

(FROM OUXt OWN COBBBS7OMDEMT.)

Pabboa, This day, noon.

At a meeting held at the Criterion Hotel last evening, it was resolved to atart a public library for the Ohiuemuri district, in the school-house here. Mr G. 6. O'Halloran was appointed as Hon. Secretary, and Mr J. Phillips Jun., as Hon, Librarian. The following gentlemen were elected as a managing committee, riz.:-—Messrs C. F. Mitchell, K. M. Corbett, A. Porter, H. D. Johnson, J. M. Robson, W. Dean and J. Ritchie. A considerable number of the residents in Tarious parts of the district bare promised subscriptions, and it was stated that we might expect assistance from the Thames Mechanics' Institute. t Of course, we do not aspire to anything Tery grand at present. Messrs tfr. 8. O'Halloran, H. D. Johnson, and J. Ritchie bare been appointed as a sub-committee to draw up rules, to report to meeting to be held at the same place on Wednesday, the 24th inst., at 7 p.m., when the amount of annual subscription will be fixed. Votes of thanks to the Chairman (Mr A. Porter), and Messrs Cassrels and Bennett, for the use of the room, brought the proceedings to a close.

The weather is delightful, and Mr Bryson is getting on well with his contract for cutting the road to the Paeroa Wharf and filling up the unsightly holes in the JNormanby road; It is a great pity that the Mackaytown and PaeroaPuke roads have been stopped, as we shall not likely get such a fine season for many a year. .
