At the Supreme Court to-day, Jacob■en, aliaa Count Mouravieff, for obtaining money under false pretences, was accused of two separate charges. The prisoner was defended by Mr Barton. He was found guilty. Sentence is deferred.— Frederick * Catlin, for mdccc it assault upon a young girl at theLowsr Hutt, was found guilty, and remanded for sentence. —The Gk\ind Jury threw out the f bill against Walter Ockenden for robbery. A test was made of water at the waterworks, and ifc was found that at half-past 9 this morning there were 12 feet 9 inches in the new reservoir. At half-past 2 thore was only 12 feet. The engineer of the waterworks finds that, on testing the volume of the stream that supplies the reservoir, the engines, hydralic lifts, and machinery at present in use in Wellington would absorb the entire amount, leaving none for domestic purposes.

In the Snpreme Court this morning Mr Justice Richmond sentenced Robert Jacobsen, alias Count Mourarieff, for obtaining money by false pretences, to 12 months' imprisonment with hard on each of two charges, but made the sentences run concurrently. Frederick Cattlin, who indecently assaulted a young girl at the Hutt, was sentenced to two years' hard labor, but without any flogging. Jansen Berquist, on two charges of sheep stealing from Maoris at Manawatu, wag acquitted on both charges.
