Hon. J. Sheehan's Visit.
A number of deputations waited upon the Native Minister to-day, many of them purely of a private nature. The Thames County Council, as a deputation, pointed out that although the Thames Water Bace had been handed over to the County, all the money received for the use of water had been payed into the credit of the General Government, and not been placed to the account of the County. The Native Minister at once admitted that the course adopted had not been fair towards the County, and said that he would at once telegraph to Wellington to have the matter rectified. Lieuts. Gavin and Bennett, of the Thames Naval Brigade, remembered the Defence Minister that Sir Donald McLean had promised certain guns and another boat to the Brigade, which favor had not yet come to hand. Mr Shcehan said enquiries would be at once made about the matter, and if'possible the promises given by the late Native Minister fulfilled.
