It has been definitely settled that the Colonist, with the New Guinea expedition, will start on the tweaty-eighth. Melboubnx, March 15. Iv the Council Mr Jenner stated yesterday afternoon that he would not proceed with the motion for a conference. Mr Cuthbert has given notice of motion for i uesday next to move the second reading of the Payment of ~ Members Bill. There is no probability of its passing. At present the prospects of a compromise are at an end. The Ministry intend adjourning the Assembly next week until July next.
