THE Evening Star. PUBLISHED DAILY AT FOUR O'CLOCK P.M. Resurrexi. THURSDAY, MARCH 7, 1878.

We would direct the attention of householders to a notice appearing in another column from the Census Enumerator. It may be that from some cause or other a few householders have not been furnished with the necessary papers to be filled up, and as it is highly desirable that the returns should be as correct as possible, to repair the omissions that may have occurred householders should apply for papers and fill them up, and render every assistance to the Enumerator and subenumerators in carrying out their duties. Communications on census business, addressed to the Enumerator frill go po^ free. The taking of the Census is a very important, as well as an expensive business, and every good citizen should gladly assist in forwarding the work. We have heard that some of the sub-enumera-tors have met with considerable difficulty in their rounds. In some instances the forms left by them have been left unfilled ; in others they have been spoilt by the want of ordinary attention to the very plain directions on the papers. We could understand that in some instances, from lack of or deficiency in education of heads of families the forms would be left to be filled by the sub-enumerators. Some papers might also be rendered useless by by errors j but it only requires ordinary intelligence and attention to fill in the papers, and the instances referred to of neglect should have been few and far between.
