NEW PLYMOUTH.

Tuesday.

Mr Jones has just returned from Mokau. He states that Bewi has visited that place, coming down the river from Waikato. He remained a few days, and visited the Europeans daily, taking food in the stores. He expressed pleasure at seeing Europeans settled there, and on friendly terms, and said he would advise the Government to do whatever landowners and settlers required to open up trade. Kewi has now returned to Waikato, it is expected, to arrange for Tawhiao's coming to Wai tar a to meet Sir George Grey. It is the first instance of Bewi having visited Europeans on the West Coast since tho commencement of the Waikato war.
